Phuthaditjhaba (outdated Witsieshoek ) is a South African city in the municipality of Maluti-a-Phofung , Thabo Mofutsanyana District , Free State Province , was the administrative seat of the former South African homeland QwaQwa .
In 2011 the city had 54,661 inhabitants (census). The name Phuthaditjhaba comes from Sesotho and means 'meeting place of the tribes'. The city is mainly inhabited by people from the Kgolokwe and Tlokwa tribes. The city is 1646 meters above sea level.
