Nationaldemokraterna ( The National Democrats ) was a small political party in Sweden . They emerged from a division of the Sverigedemokraterna ( Sweden Democrats ) in October 2001. They were considered a party of the right-wing extremist spectrum. The party had contacts with several other right-wing parties in Europe, such as B. to the Italian Lega Nord or the British National Party in Great Britain . At the beginning of 2014 the party disbanded.

The party's youth organization is called Nationaldemokratisk Ungdom (NDU; nationaldemokratische Jugend ).

history

The Nationaldemokraterna was founded by Anders Steen, who was party chairman from 2001 to 2004. On October 3, 2004, Tomas Johansson was elected as his successor, before Nils-Eric Hennix took over the party chairmanship on December 9, 2005, with the party he had led until then, the only two-year-old Frihetspartiet ( Freedom Party ), entirely in the National Democrats rose. Marc Abramsson has been chairman of the party since November 18, 2006.

ideology

The party's ideology is nationalist (or national democratic). The main points of the party program include:

  • Limitation of immigration ;
  • Preservation of traditional Swedish culture, including by banning mosques ;
  • No media sales to foreign investors;
  • Defense of a conservative family ideal and rejection of "perverted" ways of life such as B. homosexual unions;
  • Leaving the EU .

Election results

The Nationaldemokraterna can only refer to local electoral successes. National support for the party has declined steadily since 2002. In the last elections to the Swedish parliament in 2010, they only received 0.02% of the vote. In 2006 they had reached 0.06%, in the 2002 elections it was 0.08%.

In the local elections in 2002 they received a total of four seats in local assemblies; two each in the municipalities of Södertälje and Haninge , both of which are south of the capital Stockholm . In the 2006 elections they lost their seats in Haninge, but kept those in Södertälje. In addition, they won a mandate in the municipality of Nykvarn , a neighboring municipality of Södertälje. In the 2010 elections, the party lost slightly in both municipalities, but was able to keep its seats.
