The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus , ( ba. : Нацыянальная акадэмія навук Беларусі ; ru. : Национальная академия наук Беларуси, НАН Беларуси, НАНБ ; s. : National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB)) is a national Academy of Sciences in Belarus .

history

The academy was officially founded on October 13, 1928 out of the Byelorussian Cultural Institute ("Inbelkult") and by state decree on January 1, 1929; The founding president was the historian Usewalad Ihnatouski. Between 1928 and 1936 it operated as the Belarusian Academy of Sciences, between 1936 and 1991 as the Academy of Sciences of the Belarusian SSR and between 1991 and 1997 as the Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The academy was one of the leading academic academies in the former countries of the Soviet Union . The Belarusian President Aljaksandr Lukashenka has been influencing the academy in terms of structure and research direction by means of decrees since 1997 .

As the highest scientific institution in Belarus, the academy is currently creating the research base for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Belarus.

In addition to the headquarters of the Belarusian Academy of Sciences in Minsk, there are numerous institutes in Brest , Gomel , Hrodna , Mahiljou and Vitebsk .

The academy is divided into seven departments:
