The Banco National Park , established in 1953, is the oldest national park in the West African state of Ivory Coast ; it is located on the Autoroute du Nord in the municipality of Attécoubé in the north-west of the Abidjan agglomeration , the former state capital.

The more than 3000 hectare primeval forest area has typical plant and animal species such as real mahogany and still a few chimpanzees . It is traversed by the river of the same name , which flows into the Baie du Banco .

The park mainly serves as a recreational area for Abidjan residents. A network of paths is maintained and there are accommodation options. There are also picnic areas, a restaurant and an arboretum .
