The National Highway 3 is (NH 3) one of eight national highways in Cambodia , which is located in the southwest of the country and part of the Asian Highway 123 (AH 123) is. The road forms a north-south connection between Phnom Penh and National Highway 4 at Veal Renh. The road is about 200 kilometers long.
Street description
The NH 3 begins in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia with 2 million inhabitants. The NH 3 is a two-lane paved road and runs south along rice fields and initially parallel to National Highway 2. The road leads south through sparsely populated land with many long straight sections. It then passes through the southern city of Kampot, the most important place on the route outside of Phnom Penh. From here the road goes along the south coast of Cambodia, south of a wooded hilly landscape and the Phnom Bokor National Park. At Veal Renh, the highway ends on National Highway 4, which continues to the port city of Sihanoukville.

The National Highway 3 used to be a not very important link and was little traveled for a long time. Between Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville you can choose between the NH 3 and NH 4, the latter route is 30 km shorter. The NH 3 has been modernized and asphalted over the past few years, and it was completed in 2011.
