The National Highway 2 (NH 2) is one of eight national highways in Cambodia . It forms a north-south connection in the south of the country from the capital Phnom Penh to Phumi Tônleab near Phnom Den on the border with Vietnam . The road is 120 km long.
Street description
The NH 2 begins in the south of the 2 million inhabitant capital Phnom Penh. Here it crosses National Highway 1 , the road to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The NH 2 is a narrow two-lane road that runs along the banks of the Bassac River . The first part of the road goes through the densely populated area of the suburbs of Phnom Penh before entering the rural areas of Cambodia. It leads through wide, flat, agricultural areas. There are only a few buildings on the route, but no towns with the exception of Takeo . Shortly before the border with Vietnam is the place Phumi Tônleab near Phnom Den. On the Vietnamese side, the QL91 continues to Long Xuyên .
history
The trunk road was built at the time of the French colonial era and is now paved. It has significantly less traffic than the NH 1, as there are hardly any larger cities on the route, not even on the Vietnamese side.
