The Schneeberg nature reserve is located on the Schneeberg of the same name on the western edge of the city of Aachen in the Laurensberg district .
description
The area consists of a narrow, very elongated area with afforestation in the southwest as well as strips of bushes and sections of small dry lawn areas. The soil consists of a limestone-marl rock and warms up quickly. The valuable dry grass has almost completely disappeared in most places. To the north, the area narrows sharply to 30 to 100 meters on a strip of 1600 meters with typical bushes such as dog-rose and sloe , interrupted by calcareous lawns.
Protection purpose
The protection goal is to preserve the semi-arid grassland community and the field margins with a rich fauna due to the rarity and special character of the landscape components.
