Nausicaa painter

Rhea gives Kronos the diapered stone, terracotta pelike of the Nausicaa painter, 460 to 450 BC. Chr., 34.8 cm, Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Nausicaa painter was an Attic vase painter, active around 460 to 450 BC. It is named after the neck amphora in Munich 2322, on which the mythical navigator Odysseus is depicted in front of Nausicaa , the daughter of the Phaiac king . John D. Beazley ascribes 51 vases or vase fragments to him, including the amphora E 284 in the British Museum in London, which the painter signed POLYGNOTOS EGRAPSEN . The painter made use of mostly common picture schemes with a certain originality, while his individual figures appear mannered through elongation and the individual forms through schematics .
