action
Diwakar is a poet and loves his wife Jamuna more than anything. But Jamuna does not agree that Diwakar lives in a fantasy world for sheer poetry and that he perceives the real world less and less. Diwakar even goes so far that he creates a fantasy woman in the body of his wife, whom he calls Mohini .
Soon Diwakar becomes a recognized poet and Jamuna gives birth to a boy. Unfortunately, luck doesn't last long: Diwakar loses his job because of a critical song against the British. Now he can no longer look after his ailing father, and neither can his son, who is starving. All of this makes Jamuna angry, but most importantly Diwakar's growing obsession with Mohini.
When Jamuna decides to live separately from Diwakar, he is internally destroyed and is no longer able to write poetry. Jamuna slowly realizes that Diwakar cannot live without her and forgives him.
