Naw Kham ( Burmese နော်ခမ်း , Shan ၼေႃႇ ၶမ်း; born November 8, 1969 in Lashio , Shan State , Myanmar ; † March 1, 2013 in Kunming , Yunnan , People's Republic of China ) was a Myanmar criminal who was active in the Golden Triangle .

He was part of the retinue of Khun Sa , who surrendered to the Burmese authorities in 1996. Then Naw took over the remaining forces, which then called themselves Hawngleuk Militia. The group settled in the city of Tachilek , was active in the Mekong region , extorting protection money from the ships, dealing in drugs and kidnapping people. Although attempts have been made to withdraw it from circulation, it is believed that it was protected by the Myanmar military and local people. In 2011, the Mekong massacre occurred in which 13 Chinese people in two Chinese boats were killed on the Mekong because they refused to pay protection money. This sparked off a major international search for Naw on charges of murder. China first admitted to owning drones and considering using them overseas to find the criminal. He was arrested in Laos and extradited to China, where he was sentenced to death by a Chinese court. His execution was broadcast on Chinese television, which aroused severe criticism from the Myanmar population.
