Nazmi Mustafi (born November 13, 1941 in Podujevo , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is a Kosovar economist and former Yugoslav politician.

Life

Nazmi Mustafi was head of government of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo from 1986 to 1987 and Yugoslav Minister of Economics in the government of Ante Marković from 1989 to 1991 .

Later he was a professor at the economics faculty of the Albanian-speaking part of the University of Pristina , after which he was head of the anti-corruption department in the Kosovo public prosecutor's office. As a result of investigations by EULEX , Mustafi himself was suspected of corruption; in return for payment of large sums, he is said to have stopped investigations into people suspected of corruption. In September 2012, charges were brought against him.

On May 23, 2013, a court in Peć (Peja) sentenced him to a fine of 10,000 euros and a five-year prison term. Appeals proceedings initiated by him before the Court of Appeal of Kosovo and the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo confirmed the first-instance judgment.
