Location of Nebitzschen in Saxony

Nebitzschen is a district of the small Saxon town of Mügeln in the district of Northern Saxony .

history

Nebitzschen on the Oberreitschen map (1839/40)

Nebitzschen was first mentioned in a document in 1439 as Nebetzschin . The name is of Sorbian origin and can be interpreted as the place of Nebych or Nebyš. The few farms in the village were under the manorial control of the Schlatitz manor and the offices of Oschatz and Mügeln.

In 1888 Nebitzschen received a stop on the Mügeln – Neichen narrow-gauge railway , which was expanded in 1903 with the construction of the industrial railway branching off in Nebitzschen to Kemmlitz and Kroptewitz to become a station with five tracks. There on the road between Mügeln and Glossen there was another district with a few houses and an inn. In addition to agriculture, the mining of kaolin was important for the Colditz earthenware factory for a while.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Seelitz was incorporated.

1973 Nebitzschen was incorporated into Glossen. With this Nebitzschen came to indulgences on April 1, 1993. From January 1, 1994, Nebitzschen was part of the community of Sornzig-Ablaß , which was incorporated into Mügeln on January 1, 2011.
