History and description

The fountain created by Gregor von Bochmann in 1909 was acquired by the Beautification Association and given to the city of Düsseldorf. This had it built in front of the Görres grammar school . The fountain consists of a water basin , which is framed by an artistically designed natural stone parapet , and a bronze sculpture that rises on a base in the middle of the basin. The sculpture depicts two boys, an older boy who is giving water from a jug to a younger boy . Both figures were originally shown unclothed, but the older boy was later given a loincloth because his nakedness had offended. The fountain is a listed building .
