Neferut

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Neferut was an ancient Egyptian princess at the transition from the 5th to the 6th dynasty . She may have been a daughter of Pharaoh Unas , the ninth and last ruler of the 5th Dynasty. Her name has so far only been documented on a single block of relief that was found abducted in the area around the Unas pyramid near Queen Chenut's mastaba . On this block, Neferut is referred to as the birth king's daughter. It is not known whether Chenut or Unas' second royal wife, Nebet, was their mother. Several possible siblings or half-siblings of Neferut are known: Her brother Unasanchand another brother, whose name has not been passed down, as well as her sisters Chentkaus , Hemetre Hemi , Iput I (the later wife of Pharaoh Teti ), Seschseschet Idut and possibly Neferetkaus Iku .
