Nehesdorf
Nehesdorf ( Lower Sorbian Nazéjece ) is an officially designated residential area in the city of Finsterwalde in the state of Brandenburg . It is located in the south of the city.
Nehesdorf occupies an area of 1251 hectares. About 2320 inhabitants live in the place.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1376 as Nedewygistorff . The name developed from Negistorff in 1495 and Negstorff in 1533. The name means something like settlement of Nadej . The village center is laid out in a rectangular shape. Nehesdorf was a Sorbian village. Until the beginning of the 18th century, the inhabitants still spoke Sorbian .
A pitch furnace has belonged to Nehesdorf since 1620, and since 1925 it has been an independent district of Finsterwalde . As a result of the immigration of working-class families, the population grew to 2320 in 1910. On January 1, 1925, Nehesdorf was incorporated into Finsterwalde.
Attractions
The St. Katharinen Church is a medieval boulder building. It is one of the architectural monuments in Finsterwalde . The church is the oldest building in the city of Finsterwalde.
On the village green is the firehouse of volunteer firefighters Nehesdorf.
