Neil Patrick Cavuto (born September 22, 1958 in Westbury , New York ) is an American television presenter and commentator. He was best known as the host of Your World with Neil Cavuto and Cavuto on Business programs on the conservative news broadcaster Fox News .

Life and work

Cavuto, who is of Italian on his father's side and Irish on his mother's side, grew up in Danbury , Connecticut , where he also attended Immaculate High School . During the 1970s, Cavuto served on White House staff during the Carter administration . He earned a degree from St. Bonaventure University and a Masters from American University . He then became a business journalist. He worked for the Public Broadcasting Service for 15 years .

Cavuto became better known as the presenter of the program Power Lunch on CNBC . In 1996 he was hired by the then newly founded conservative news channel Fox News. At Fox, he took on responsibilities as editor of business news and as presenter of the program Your World with Neil Cavuto , which is still broadcast on working days at 4 p.m. East Coast time. The program offers a compilation of current economic news, which Cavuto comments and analyzes in monologues. There are also talks with correspondents for the station, commentators and guests, including numerous personalities from politics and business. For several years Cavuto also contributed to the radio offshoot of Fox News. Since March 2006, Cavuto has also held the position of Vice President for Business News at the specialty broadcaster Fox Business . In addition, he has so far published two books dealing with economic issues.

Cavuto lives in Mendham , New Jersey with his wife, Mary Fulling, who he has been married to since October 15, 1983, and their three children, Tara, Bradley and Jeremy .
