Nekoda Smythe-Davis
Nekoda Anitia Keros Smythe-Davis (born April 22, 1993 in London ) is a British judoka who was vice world champion in 2018.
Athletic career
The 1.57 m tall Nekoda Smythe-Davis competes in the lightweight, the weight class up to 57 kilograms. In 2013 she won a bronze medal at the Junior European Championships. At the Commonwealth Games 2014 in Glasgow, starting for England, she defeated the Scottish Stephanie Inglis in the final . In 2016, she took fifth place at the European Championships in Kazan . At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , she won her first fight against the Austrian Sabrina Filzmoser , but then lost to the French Automne Pavia in the second round .
In 2017 Nekoda-Davis lost to the French Hélène Receveaux in the quarter-finals of the World Championships in Budapest . Nekoda-Davis received a bronze medal through victories in the round of hope over Lien Chen-Ling from Taiwan and Miryam Roper , who was fighting for Panama . In February 2018, she won her first Grand Slam tournament in Düsseldorf. At the World Championships in Baku , she defeated the German Theresa Stoll in the quarter-finals and the Mongolian defending champion Dorjsürengiin Sumjaa in the semifinals . In the final she was defeated by the Japanese Tsukasa Yoshida .
