Miryam Roper , also Miryam Roper Yearwood or Miryam Roper-Yearwood , (born June 26, 1982 in Aachen ) is a German - Panamanian judoka who competes in the weight class up to 57 kg.

Career in Germany

International success

Roper began competitive sports in the 1990s, and in 2004 she took second place behind Karoline Kubatzki at the German championships . In 2007 she reached third place at the Super World Cup in Hamburg. With the German team she won the world championship bronze in 2008 and world championship silver in 2010. In 2011 she lost to Sandy Nisser in the final at the German championships , and a week later Roper won her first World Cup tournament in Sofia. At the 2011 European Team Championships she was part of the second-placed German team. At the 2011 World Championships in Paris, Roper took fifth place. In 2012 she won the World Cup tournament in Sofia and took second place in Bucharest. At the European Judo Championships in 2012 she won the bronze medal. In December 2013 she moved to first place in the 57 kg class of the judo world rankings. In 2015 she won the bronze medal in this weight class in the individual and silver with the team at the European Games .

Miryam Roper is a member of the Bundesliga team of the 1st Judo Club Mönchengladbach .

Dressing change

After an early elimination against your feared opponent Rafaela Silva at the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro , she was informed by telephone by the national coach Claudiu Pusa that she no longer had any prospects of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Roper's Panamanian father made it possible for her to get permission to start in Panama. This started in April 2017 and a few weeks later Roper won the Grand Slam in Yekaterinburg . In 2018 she won a bronze medal at the Pan American Championships. She also won a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Lima in 2019 .
