Automne Pavia (born January 3, 1989 in Péronne ) is a French judoka . She won an Olympic bronze medal and was three times European champion.

Athletic career

The 1.71 m tall judoka starts in the lightweight, the weight class up to 57 kilograms. In 2006 she won a bronze medal at the U20 European Championships, a year later she won. In 2008 she reached the final of the U20 World Championships and won silver behind the Brazilian Rafaela Silva . In 2009 and 2010, Pavia won the title at the French championships. In 2011 she won the Grand Slam tournament in Paris, and at the European Championships in 2011 she finished seventh. The following year she was defeated by the Greek Ioulietta Boukouvala in the quarter-finals of the 2012 European Championships , and after two wins in the round of hope she received a bronze medal. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she lost to the Japanese Kaori Matsumoto in the semifinals , while Pavia defeated the Hungarian Hedvig Karakas in the battle for bronze .

At the European Championships in Budapest in 2013 , she defeated Hedvig Karakas in the quarter-finals, the Portuguese Telma Monteiro in the semi-finals and finally Sabrina Filzmoser from Austria in the final . Four months later, Pavia lost in the semifinals of the 2013 World Championships against Rafaela Silva, in the battle for the bronze medal she was defeated by the German Miryam Roper . Pavia also met Roper in the final of the 2014 European Championships in Montpellier, this time Pavia won. At the 2014 World Championships, the French lost to the Japanese Nae Udaka in the semi-finals , but won the battle for bronze against Rafaela Silva. After a fifth place at the 2015 European Championships , she lost to Kaori Matsumoto in the semifinals of the 2015 World Championships in Astana , and in the battle for bronze she defeated Marti Malloy from the United States. At the European Championships in 2016 , Pavia won her third title after 2013 and 2014, this time defeating Bulgarian Ivelina Ilieva in the final . Three and a half months later, she beat Briton Nekoda Smythe-Davis in the round of 16 at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . In the quarter-finals she lost to Kaori Matsumoto and after losing to Telma Monteiro in the hope round Automne Pavia took seventh place.

Automne Pavia has a daughter, born in 2017, with British judoka Ashley McKenzie . In 2018 she returned to the judo mat and finished second at the World Cup in Glasgow.
