Nele Pollatschek

Nele Rahel Pollatschek (born March 15, 1988 in Berlin ) is a German writer .

Life

Nele Pollatschek studied English literature and philosophy at the Universities of Heidelberg and Cambridge from 2008 to 2012 , before moving to Oxford University for her master’s degree in English literature in 2012 . From 2013 to 2018 she did her PhD at Oxford University; her doctoral thesis dealt with the theodicy question in the Victorian novel.

During her doctorate, Pollatschek published her debut novel Das Unglück Other People , which was awarded the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize in 2017 and the Grimmelshausen Prize in 2019 . Dear Oxbridge: Love Letter to England was published in 2020 , in which she describes her experiences at the elite universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Furthermore, since summer 2019 she has moderated the weekly glossary of Pollatschek's Canon: World literature to have a say at hr2-kultur .

Her works are published by the Kiepenheuer & Witsch publishing house .
