Nele Van den Broeck (born 1985 in Merchtem ), also known by the name of her musical alter ego Nele Needs A Holiday, is a Belgian singer , composer , actress , director , and columnist .

Van den Broeck studied music production at the London Center of Contemporary Music . Van den Broeck studied contemporary drama at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent and German and Spanish at the Free University of Brussels (VUB) .

Van den Broeck writes pop music with ironic lyrics under the name Nele Needs A Holiday . Nele Needs A Holiday won the music award at Theater Aan Zee in 2008 and finished the finale of Humo's Rock Rally 2010. In August 2010, the self-published EP It's OK ... , produced by Pascal Deweze . On September 19, 2014, It's My Party , Nele Needs A Holiday's debut album, was released, produced by Koen Gisen . The album was released by Compagnie Cornelius and distributed via LC Music . On October 6, 2017, the second album Love Yeah came out, produced by Richie Stevens from England and via NEWS . spread. At stage performances Nele Needs A Holiday plays together with an all-women band.

From January to the end of March 2014 Van den Broeck hosted Nele in Radioland on 13 Sunday afternoons , a program on Radio 1 about the history of 100 years of radio in Belgium.

Columns

Since January 2015 she has been writing a column for De Standaard every 14 days , each time with a different music title. Her column Mind The Gap was included in De Standaard's 25 best columns of 2015.
