The Nelly-Sachs-Gymnasium (NSG for short) is a language-oriented high school in the Dreikönigenviertel district of Neuss . The school had 990 students in 2013.

history

The school was founded in 1957 as the “Städtisches Mädchengymnasium ” and initially housed in the Theodor-Schwann-Gymnasium . In April 1963 they moved into the new building on Eichendorffstrasse. In 1966, the college decided to name the school after Nelly Sachs . In 1978 co-education was introduced. In 2015 the school took part in the first Neuss Peace Run.

Educational offers

The main languages ​​offered are English (from grade 5), French and Latin (from grade 6). There are also various working groups ( AGs ) in which new languages ​​are learned, such as Spanish. Pupils who are at risk of being transferred in a major subject are also supported in German, math and English from grade 6; From grade 7 onwards, the second foreign language (Latin / French) is also offered as a support. The obligation for schoolchildren to take part in working groups was abolished in the 2016/17 school year.

This exchange, which takes place every other year, includes a two-day stay in St. Petersburg and Moscow.
