Nelly Corradi (also Nelli Corradi ; born December 17, 1914 in Parma , † April 16, 1968 in Rome ) was an Italian opera singer (soprano) and actress .

Life

Corradi trained as a lyric soprano at the conservatory in her native Parma, and made her stage debut as a singer. In 1934 she was hired by Max Ophüls for his film Eine Diva für alle , in which she played Isa Miranda's much younger sister . The attractive and photogenic young woman now served both genres, film and opera. In the second half of the 1930s and the following decade, she appeared in a number of cinema works, which were often directed by her husband Marco Elter , among which Le scarpe al sole (1935) stands out, in which Cooradi with empathy and moderation the role of one interpreted war bride worried about her husband. At the same time she appeared in numerous operas and gave concert evenings in Italy and Europe.

After the Second World War, continued to be active on the stages and sometimes also in operettas, the now widowed singer appeared in films that brought operatic works to the screen, strangely enough, she was dubbed twice (by Onelia Fineschi in La leggenda di Faust 1948 and 1948 respectively . Caterina Mancini in La forza del destino 1949). In the early days of Italian television, she participated in a broadcast under Mario Landi in November 1954 when Das Dreimäderlhaus was broadcast. Soon after, she ended her career.

In the Parma district of Corcagnano , the Piazza Nelli Corrado is named after the artist.
