Marco Elter
Marco Elter (born June 14, 1890 in Turin , † April 14, 1945 in Switzerland ) was an Italian film director and skier .
Life
Elter comes from a Luxembourgish family and was a highly decorated soldier with the rank of captain during World War I. He was also successful as a skier before that, when he won the World Championships in 1913.
From the beginning of the 1930s Elter dealt with the film; first as a production manager , then as a director. His debut was Le scarpe al sole from 1935, based on a novel by Paolo Monelli . The film, which was awarded at the Venice Film Festival , has rhetorical weaknesses, but captivates with its narrative style, which is designed with documentary means. His next six films failed to meet this standard.
Parent was married to the opera singer and actress Nelly Corradi .
