Manuel Küng (born July 22, 1987 in Bütschwil ) is a Swiss triathlete .

Career

Manuel Küng began his sporting career at a young age as a competitive swimmer. In 2005 he completed his first triathlon competitions and just one year later he was able to qualify for the Junior World Championships in Lausanne.

U23 Swiss triathlon champion 2009

In 2009, the Swiss from Eastern Switzerland was U23 Swiss triathlon champion (Olympic distance) in Lausanne. In July 2009 he started his first World Cup race in Kitzbühel.

Vice Swiss Champion Triathlon 2013

With third place at the elite Swiss championship in 2011 and second place in 2013, he confirms that he is one of the best Swiss triathletes. In the meantime, he mainly focuses on the half or middle distance, etc. a. under the trademark Ironman 70.3 (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running).

In June 2013 he achieved his first podium at a major international event with third place at Ironman 70.3 Italy. At the Ironman 70.3 World Championship 2013 in Wiesbaden he finished 11th. His last race in 2013, 70.3 Aix en Provence, he finished in fifth place.
In June 2015 he finished second in Ironman 70.3 Switzerland and two weeks later he won Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg. He was trained by Luboš Bílek and, since 2017, by Scott de Filippis . He has been part of the BMC-Vifit Pro Triathlon Team since the beginning of 2019 . In June 2019 he finished third at Ironman 70.3 Switzerland .

His younger sister Rahel Küng (* 1991) was also active as a professional triathlete.
