The Nelson Cliffs are steep, around 350 m high and 8 km long cliffs on the West Antarctic James Ross Island . They rise in an east-west orientation on the north flank of Lomas Ridge between Tortoise Hill and a landmark 5 km north of Jefford Point .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2006 after the British geologist Philip Humphrey Hardwick Nelson (* 1938), who carried out the first geological mapping of James Ross Island.
