The Tortoise Hill ( English for turtle hill ) is a 505 m high hill in the southwest of the West Antarctic James Ross Island . It rises 5 km west of The Watchtower rock massif .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out surveys between 1958 and 1961. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1964 because of its similar geological structure to Terrapin Hill (English for pond turtle hill ) in the northeast of the island.
