The Terrapin Hill ( English for diamond turtle hill ) is a rounded and reddish colored hill in the north of the Antarctic James Ross Island . It rises 545 m high in the south of the peninsula The Naze .
The area was first explored during the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) under the direction of polar explorer Otto Nordenskjöld . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out an initial mapping in 1945 and named the hill in 1948 based on its external shape. A geological equivalent of this hill can be found in Tortoise Hill in the southeast of the island.
