Nelson Rock

The Nelson rock is a single, dark and sometimes icy cliff rocks in front of the Mawson Coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Lands . It is 3 miles north of Williams Rocks .

It was mapped in 1954 on one of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions . The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after Robert EK Nelson, a weather observer at Mawson Station in 1962, who was involved in triangulating this rock and building a beacon on it.
