Nelson Marcelo San Martín Arriagada (born May 17, 1980 in Santiago de Chile ) is a former Chilean football player .

Career

At the age of 20 he began his professional career at the Chilean club CF Universidad de Chile . In 2002 he was loaned to Deportes Temuco for a year before returning to Universidad. Since he could not prevail again he went to CD Unión San Felipe where he had 26 games and 4 goals. His next stop was CD Provincial Curicó Unido . In November 2006, San Martín moved to Malaysia in the Malaysian Super League to Kedah FA . Here he won his first major title and played a key role in the team's success. He won the triple championship, Malaysian FA Cup and Malaysia Cup with the club twice in a row . He was also able to advance with the team to the semi-finals of the AFC Cup 2007. At the end of the 2008 season, San Martín had to leave the league. The Malaysian Football Association had decided not to allow any more foreigners in the league. He moved to Thailand for one season and played there for the Thai Premier League newcomer FC Bangkok Glass . In December 2009 he signed a contract with Home United in Singapore . Here he played until the end of 2012. On December 1, 2012, he signed a contract with the Chilean club AC Barnechea . This was dissolved a month later. In 2013 he went to Malaysia. Here he signed a contract with his former club Kedah FA in Alor Setar . A year later he moved to league rivals Terengganu FC II . At the end of 2014, he ended his career as a football player.
