Nemea ( Greek Νεμέα ( f. Sg. )) Is a city in the Greek region of Peloponnese and the seat of the municipality of the same name Nemea . The city is located at around 320 meters above sea level in the middle of an important wine-growing region and has 3,853 inhabitants. Nemea red wine is produced here by over 30 wineries . The hiking trails 'Paths of Wine' ( Greek: Δρόμοι του Κρασιού dromi tou Krasiou ) lead from the village into the vineyards.

Originally the place was called Agios Georgios ( Greek Άγιος Γεώργιος ). It was renamed in the 20th century after the sanctuary of Nemea about 3 km to the east . At the western end of the village is the small Agios Georgios church from the 18th century. It is a single-nave church with a higher transept roughly in the middle, giving the church a cross shape.
