Nena Venetsanou

Nena Venetsanou ( Greek Νένα Βενετσάνου ; * 1955 in Athens ) is a singer of contemporary Greek songs.

Life

In 1973 Nena Venetsanou went to France to study art history in Besançon . She then took singing lessons from Irma Kolássi in Paris . After returning to Greece in 1977, she joined the feminist movement and wrote her first songs.

She appeared on television programs, gave her first open air concerts and went on a two-year concert tour with the composer Christos Leontis . After winning a television competition for young talent, she brought Manos Hadjidakis to his radio show, who also worked with her at concerts and performances.

In the following years Venetsanou made a name for herself as an interpreter of the works of Mikis Theodorakis . She also worked with musicians such as Iannis Ioannidis , Vassilis Tsabropoulos and Angélique Ionatos .
