neobooks in 2010 as eBook - self-publishing platform of the publishing group Droemer Knaur founded. Authors are given the opportunity to present manuscripts to the community and publishers. The website has been operated by Neopubli GmbH together with the sister platform epubli since 2016 and is therefore part of the digital division of the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group .
history
In October 2010, neobooks was initially founded as a pure acquisition platform by the Droemer Knaur publishing group , on which authors can share their manuscripts with other users and have them rated. Dromer Knaur acquires manuscripts based on recommendations and judgments from the community. In addition to the Droemer Knaur publishing group, other companies belonging to the Holtzbrinck group use the platform to acquire authors, such as Rowohlt Verlag and S. Fischer Verlag with its Fantasy & SciFi label Tor .
Since 2012, neobooks has also acted as a self-publishing platform for e-books and sells them in German and European online retail . The online library Skoobe is also part of the distribution network . In 2016, Holtzbrinck merged the self-publishing offers epubli and neobooks under the name "Neopubli", so that neobooks authors in association with epubli can have their books printed in print-on-demand as well as e-books .
In cooperation with the Leipzig Book Fair, Neobooks awards the Indie Author Prize , which has been honoring self-publications from annually changing genres since 2016 .
