Neomitranthes obscura is a species of plant in the myrtle family from central to southeastern Brazil .

description

Neomitranthes obscura grows as a small shrub or tree up to about 5–6 meters high. The trunk diameter reaches up to 25 centimeters. The grayish to brownish bark is rough to scaly or flaky.

The simple, short-stalked and leathery leaves are opposite. The short petiole is up to 5 millimeters long. The ovate to obovate or elliptical to lanceolate, entire leaves are up to 6–7 centimeters long and up to 3 centimeters wide and round-pointed to pointed or acuminate. The leaf margin is somewhat thickened and partly bent. The veins are pinnate with fine, indistinct lateral veins.

The flowers appear axillary, tufted in small groups up to about six. The almost sessile, very small, green, yellowish-whitish flowers with a double bloom cover have minimal bracts and bracts. The very small, indistinctly fused calyx lobes open irregularly calyptrate . The very small, spatulate and ciliate, about 4 petals are sloping. There are many, long and protruding stamens . The two-chamber ovary with slender pen is inferior under the cup-shaped flower cups fused (Epiperigyn).

There are small, up to 1.5–2.5 cm in size, round and smooth, shiny, one to two-seeded, first orange, then dark red and blackish when ripe fruits, berries ( false fruit ) with small, round, somewhat deepened kalyptra and Remnants of a flower cup at the tip and a thin, firm shell formed. The round seeds are 6-10 millimeters in size.
