The Nereid Lake ( English ; Bulgarian езеро Нереида esero Nereida ) is a roughly trapezoidal, in a west-southwest-east-northeast orientation 450 m long, 90 m wide and 3.8 hectares large lake on Greenwich Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located immediately west of Agüedo Point and 800 m east-southeast of Brusen Point in the eastern section of Flamingo Beach . It is separated from the Orión Passage by a strip of land 20 to 40 m wide.
The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2020 after the Nereids , nymphs from Greek mythology .
