The Nethestausee , the Neuenheerse reservoir or the Neuenheerse reservoir is a 4.5 hectare recreational lake in the Teutoburg Forest / Eggegebirge Nature Park in East Westphalia-Lippe, directly adjacent to the village of Neuenheerse .
geography
The Nethestausee is located southwest of the village of Neuenheerse and belongs to the recreation park of the same name.
The reservoir is easy to reach from Neuenheerse and Willebadessen . An asphalt road runs along the west bank and above the weir. The west side of the lake borders on both agricultural land and green spaces intended for lake use. The east side is accessible by hiking trails, dense mixed forest extends here to the lake shore. The paths directly on the lake are closed to normal traffic. In the immediate vicinity of the reservoir is the Neuenheerser sports field, which offers parking.
history
The damming of the Nethe brook began on June 12, 1975. The handover of the reservoir to the public by Willi Falke, the last mayor of Neuenheerse until 1975 and chairman of the tourist association, took place almost 2 years later, on June 23, 1977. The Nethestausee is part of the Neuenheerse recreation park, which was inaugurated in 1975.
Recreational facilities
In the area of the reservoir there is a campsite, bike and hiking trails and a lawn.
Freetime activities
Due to the good connection to Neuenheerse and the abundant paths, the Nethestausee is a suitable destination for hikers, cyclists, walkers and other visitors. Halfway along the lake there is a playground and a small hut, which are regularly maintained along with the green areas. Furthermore there is the possibility to rent one of the existing pedal boats in summer. The local fishing club Neuenheerse eV offers fishing day tickets from spring to late autumn. In order to expand the existing fishing opportunities, a handicapped and wheelchair accessible fishing pier was built, which has been in use since spring 2011.
