history

Neu Ummendorf was only created in the course of the subdivision of Domain Acres from 1913 along a road connection of the so-called Günneschen Heerstraße, which had existed for centuries as an army route . In the area around today's local situation existed in the Middle Ages , the deserted villages Kowelle today's local position and south Selschen north. To the west of the current location, a ditch about two kilometers long was dug for defense purposes in the 15th century in a north-south direction . After an interruption due to the effects of the First World War , the settlement of rural farms continued from 1919. The condition of the roads to the village was initially very poor and only improved with the expansion of the road to Ummendorf in 1925. To the east to Hakenstedter Chaussee , today's Bundesstraße 245, the expansion took place in 1934. In Neu Ummendorf there was a restaurant with the Gasthof Fuchs for many years .

In the area around Neu Ummendorf there are always sinkholes . Such earth collapses were recorded in May 1986 and May 4, 1995. The latter sinkhole reached a depth of up to seven meters.

There is a farm in the village.

At the northwestern end of Neu Ummendorf there is a memorial stone reminiscent of the Selschen desert . The granite stone was erected at the instigation of the veterinarian and historian Albert Hansen.
