Gustav Reischel

Gustav Reischel (born November 15, 1858 in Sömmerda , † March 18, 1932 in Hanover ) was a German educator and settlement geographer.

Life

Reischel attended the Realgymnasium in Erfurt . From 1881 he studied languages, geography and history at the universities of Tübingen, Leipzig and Halle-Wittenberg. In 1885 he received his doctorate in Hall to Dr. phil. with the dissertation "Contributions to the settlement history of Central Thuringia plus an appendix on the statistics of body size in the Prussian districts of Erfurt, Weißensee and Eckartsberga" . At the university there, he also acquired the facultas docendi in French, geography and history.

In 1888 he started teaching at the secondary school in Brandenburg an der Havel .

In 1901 he became a member of the Historical Commission for Saxony and Anhalt and presented several publications on desertification in the Prussian province of Saxony . His scientific legacy is now kept in the Saxony-Anhalt State Archives in Magdeburg .
