New abbey
As New Abbey one under is listed detached building in town Wolmirstedt in Saxony-Anhalt called.
The building, erected in 1732 in the late baroque style, was part of the complex of a previously existing monastery of St. Catherine of the Cistercians , which had been Protestant since 1577. It served as a ladies' pen for noble women. After the abolition of the monastery in 1810, the house was used as a manor of the monastery domain until 1945 . After that, the building at Kirchplatz 1 served as a school. Currently (December 2009) it is empty.
The New Abbey has a north and a south wing, which are connected by a central pavilion. The house is crowned by high mansard roofs . Extensive redesign took place in the 1960s. The Sankt-Katharinen-Kirche is a little to the west of the New Abbey .
