New Beethoven Complete Edition

The New Beethoven Complete Edition (= Ludwig van Beethoven, Works. Complete Edition , abbreviated NGA ) is a historical-critical complete edition of all works by the composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827). It is published by the Beethoven-Haus in Bonn and is published by G. Henle Verlag . The first volume was completed in 1961. About two thirds of the planned total of 56 volumes have been published.

In total, the New Beethoven Complete Edition should comprise 56 volumes in 13 sections at the end, all volumes with a critical report. Currently (December 2016) there are 39 volumes, 29 of which have a critical report:

  • Section I, symphonies, 5 volumes planned - 4 volumes published, 4 with a critical report
  • Section II, other orchestral works, 4 volumes planned - 3 volumes published, 2 with a critical report
  • Section III, concerts, 5 volumes planned - all 5 volumes have been published, all 5 with a critical report
  • Department IV, chamber music with piano, 3 volumes planned - 2 volumes published, 1 with a critical report
  • Department V, works for piano and one instrument, 4 volumes planned - all 4 volumes published, 2 with a critical report
  • Department VI, chamber music without piano, 6 volumes planned - 5 volumes published, 4 with a critical report
  • Section VII, piano music, 8 volumes planned - 5 volumes published, 2 with a critical report
  • Section VIII, Sacred Music, 3 volumes planned - all 3 volumes published, all 3 with a critical report
  • Department IX, stage works, 8 volumes planned - 3 volumes published, 3 with a critical report
  • Department X, vocal works with orchestral accompaniment, 3 volumes planned - all 3 volumes published, all 3 with a critical report
  • Department XI, folk song arrangements, 3 volumes planned - 2 volumes published, 2 with a critical report
  • Section XII, songs and chants, 2 volumes planned - 1 volume published, 1 with a critical report
  • Department XIII, Composition Studies a. Ä., 2 volumes planned - 1 volume published, 1 with a critical report
