The Neue Berliner Illustrierte ( NBI ) was in the GDR weekly-circulation magazine .
history
The title referred to the Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung, which appeared until April 1945 . The NBI was published from 1945 in East Berlin by the Allgemeine Deutsche Verlag , Jägerstrasse 10/11. It was later published by the Berlin publishing house . In October 1969 the magazine Zeit im Bild , which had been published in Dresden until then, was integrated into the NBI .
It contained political reports, information about distant countries, serial novels, do-it-yourself tips, health advice, athlete posters, a puzzle page with a checkered corner and a children's page with the monkey NUK. Due to this diversity of subjects reached a wide audience and was despite an edition popular of 726,000 copies and quickly out- Bückware .
After German reunification , the magazine, which was taken over by Gruner + Jahr and renamed "extra-Magazin" in March 1991 , failed to establish itself on the market and was published for the last time on October 10, 1991.
