from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Neue Hütte was a mining facility north of the Alexisbad district of the city of Harzgerode in the Harz region .

It was not far from the Selke . Its construction took place in connection with the revival of the mining industry in Anhalt following the granting of mountain freedom in 1561 . The Neue Hütte was first mentioned in 1563. It was mainly used to smelt lead and silver ores. The hut was operated continuously for several decades and was renovated in 1625. After that, however, it came to a standstill due to the chaos of the war and was not restored after the end of the war.
