background

The construction time is given as seven years. The cost is estimated at 45 billion US dollars. The official start of construction (phase 1) was April 2016. Phase 1 focuses on the infrastructure with bridges and 210 kilometers of roads. In addition, a gas-fired power plant was built by EEHC (Egyptian Electricity Holding Company) and Siemens , which was handed over in July 2018.
