The China State Construction Engineering Corporation , CSCEC for short ( Chinese 中國 建築工程 總公司 / 中国 建筑工程 总公司 , 中 建 for short ), is the largest construction company and the largest international general contractor in the People's Republic of China .
The CSCEC was founded in 1982 as a state company. In 2002, CSCEC was ranked 16th among the world's largest international general contractors by the international trade magazine Engineering News-Record (ENR) and ranked 10th among the largest companies in China by turnover and 12th in terms of company assets. The company's assets as of June 2002 were RMB 74.1 billion , well ahead of the next largest construction company in China. The total sales of the CSCEC since its inception amounted to 434.7 billion RMB at that time, of which 30% was achieved abroad. In the Forbes Global 2000 of the world's largest companies, CSCE ranks 84th (status: FY 2017). The company had a market value of over USD 40.4 billion in early 2018.
The main business areas of the group are construction planning and design , project development , machine leasing , trading, construction supervision and plant management .
More than 66 construction projects carried out by CSCEC received the Lu Ban Award , the highest distinction in the Chinese construction industry. CSCEC has already won 27 prizes from the National Scientific and Technology Advancement Award (for national scientific and technical progress), including three first prizes.
The CSCEC has numerous branches and subsidiaries worldwide. It is divided into five main departments and twelve traditional main business areas, including eight in-house engineering offices and four design institutes, as well as its own national research laboratory. At the end of 2002, the CSCEC had 122,500 employees, including 62,300 technical and administrative employees and 500 graduates from the China Engineering Academy. The president of the company is Sun Wenjie.
