The Friedrichshafen Stadt – Friedrichshafen Hafen railway in Friedrichshafen connects the city station with the port station . The 816 meter long, standard-gauge and non- electrified branch line with the route number 4531 represents the operational connection between two parts of the station .

history

The end of the route around 1900

After Friedrichshafen was connected to the first section of the Southern Railway from 1847 , the Royal Württemberg State Railways did not begin to expand towards the port until 1849. The new line went into operation on June 1, 1850, its maximum gradient is 1:45 and the smallest radius 150 meters. Until the abandonment of the ferry service across Lake Constance in 1976, it was also operated in freight traffic.

The route belongs to Deutsche Bahn and is now operated exclusively by railcars for local rail passenger transport. Since June 1, 1997, the Bodensee-Oberschwaben-Bahn (BOB) has also been running between the city and port stations. In terms of tariffs, the connection - like all routes in the region - has been integrated into the Bodensee-Oberschwaben Verkehrsverbund (bodo) , which was founded on January 1st, 2004 .
