Neue Helden is the fifteenth album by the German rock band Puhdys . It is the last album by the band that was released before the political change in the GDR .

The album was produced in 1988 and released on February 15, 1989. It was the same from the GDR -Plattenlabel Amiga published and the Munich record label Koch. On the cover of the West German edition, two babies are shown playing with blocks; they wear underwear with the national flags of the USA and the Soviet Union printed on them. In the background are men in gray suits. The cover of the Amiga edition differs significantly from this. It is blue at the top and green at the bottom, with soft transitions, and the words "Puhdys 15" and "Amiga".

music

Neue Helden is an elaborately produced and arranged album with lush orchestral arrangements. The Rundfunkchor Berlin contributed to the album. All texts were written by Kurt Demmler , who used the pseudonym Kowarski for this production .

In terms of content, this album is mainly about the desire for freedom, political change, justice and peace. This is particularly evident in the titles Frei wie der Wind , Neue Helden and Kleiner Planet . In the titles Lichtermeer and Leben , thoughtful tones can be heard briefly , in which the finiteness of life is thematized. The rocking title Der Stier is about animal welfare.

With the title Little Planet , the Puhdys reached 4th place in the GDR's annual hit parade . With the same song they won the “Silver Bong”, a prize awarded by audience votes by the music show Bong on GDR television .
