The New Parish Church of John the Baptist is a Roman Catholic church in Vandans in Montafon , in the state of Vorarlberg .

description

The church was built in the southeast of the old parish church , at the other end of the cemetery, in 1959 according to the plans of the architects Hans and Ingo Feßler and consecrated in 1960. The floor plan of the church forms an octagon and is closed off like a tent by a high pitched roof. The walls are structured like lamellas by colored concrete glass window slots. Noteworthy for the planning time at that time was the arrangement of a freely walkable altar , slightly raised, and the church floor also shows a slight elevation towards the altar. A side wing with adjoining rooms forms the connection to the church tower . In it hang the four bells (strikes c sharp / e / f sharp / a) from the old church next door.

On the altar wall there is a crucifix as a relief with the hll. Maria and Johannes by the sculptor Josef Baumgartner . The organ from 1961 is Opus 4109 from the Walcker organ building company .

A war memorial to St. Sebastian by the sculptor Emil Gehrer from 1960 stands by the church .
