Location of Neuenlande in Lower Saxony

Neuenlande is a farming community in the Herzlake community in the Emsland district of Lower Saxony .

history

Before 1820 Neuenlande (Emsland) was part of the parish of Herzlake. From 1820 to 1965 Neuenlande was an independent political municipality.

The community consisted of up to 11 hereditary estates in the 19th and 20th centuries until the land consolidation in the 1960s. The courtyards were mainly on Hülshauk (house numbers 1 to 4), on Burgstrasse (house numbers 5 to 7) and on Dohrener Strasse (house numbers 8 to 11). Farms No. 2 (Rohe), 3 (Hoge), 6 (Stockmann) and 11 (Kalkmann) no longer exist in Neuenlande today. The Rohe farm has been merged with the Groß Thedieck farm. Hof Hoge went bankrupt around 1830, was dissolved and the individual areas were sold in plots. The Stockmann yard was first transferred to Tholen, then to Vorwerk. The farm was relocated to Käinveen Street as part of the land consolidation in 1963 and the former farm was leveled. The Kalkmann farm was relocated to Dohren and also leveled at its previous location. The former farms No. 1 (formerly Schene, today the construction company Hus), 4 (formerly Möllering / Sube), 5 (Wehry) and 10 (Kuhlmann) no longer operate any agriculture. Only farms no. 7 (formerly Büscher, today Heskamp), 8 (Hillen / Book) and 9 (Vorjans) are still farmed today.

Population development

In terms of population, the community of Neuenlande was the smallest in the association of today's single community of Herzlake. It had 184 inhabitants in 1939, 218 in 1950, 199 in 1961, 155 in 1971, 182 in 1981 and 178 in 1991. The size of the community was 514 ha in 1938.

Incorporation

In 1965, the former "Samtgemeinde Herzlake und Umgebung", today the municipality Herzlake, emerged from the communities Herzlake, Bookhof, Felsen, Neuenlande and Westrum. On March 1, 1974, Neuenlande was incorporated into the municipality of Herzlake. The unified municipalities of Herzlake, Lähden and Dohren merged in 1974 to form the integrated municipality of Herzlake.
