The house with the postal address Neuer Markt 3–4 is a listed building in the Hanseatic city of Stralsund on the Neuer Markt at the corner of Poststrasse . The building extends to Katharinenberg , there the postal address is Katharinenberg 12 .

The brick- built building was built in 1886 after the land was reserved for it in 1878. The inauguration of the post office was celebrated on October 12, 1888, and the General Post Director Heinrich von Stephan and Stralsund's Lord Mayor Carl Friedrich Tamms were also present .

The three-storey building shows the neo-Gothic style . Towards the Neuer Markt, two projections with pointed panels spanning floors characterize the facade ; they are crowned by pillar gables.

The side wing on Poststrasse, the then Landesherrenstrasse, was raised and lengthened between 1924 and 1926, using simple shapes. An extension on Katharinenberg completed the building complex in 1930/1931; it housed the telegraph office (Katharinenberg 12).

In 1950 the main entrance was moved from the center of the front to the Neuer Markt to the right axis .

The house is located in the core area of the city area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site of the “ historic old towns of Stralsund and Wismar ”. It is entered in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund with the number 594.
