The New Prosa Prize Venlo ( Dutch Nieuw Proza Prijs Venlo ) is a Dutch literary prize that is awarded annually to young authors. The award is given for a short story or short story that appeared in a Dutch or Flemish literary magazine in the past year. The writer must still be at the beginning of his career and must not have published a novel yet.

The New Prose Prize was first awarded in 1989 and was previously (until 2002) Rabobank Spring Prize for Literature (Rabobank Lenteprijs voor Literatuur). The prize money is 1250 euros and is sponsored by the City of Venlo's Literair Productiefonds . The jury is made up of three members of the Tegelen Culture Council (Cultuele Raad Tegelen).

For several writers, the New Prose Prize has been a springboard for their further literary careers. Well -known authors such as Arnon Grunberg , Erwin Mortier , Anton Valens and Karel Glastra van Loon previously won the award today .
